If the license was purchased in Contra Costa County, you may obtain a copy from this office; otherwise, contact the Recorder's office in the county where it was purchased. If the county is not known, please contact the State Office of Vital Statistics in Sacramento.

 
This service is NOT for purchasing a license to be married, but rather for obtaining a certified copy of a license that has already been issued.

Please do not fax in a copy of your ID or any other form of identification.

Please do not send cash we only accept check or money order.
 

 

By Law Marriage Information is not searchable online to order a marriage license use the following procedure.
 
 
STEP 1
Download and fill out the Certified Marriage Certificate application from the following link below.
 
If you come to our office in person with the form completed for processing the document does not have to be notarized.
 
If you plan to mail the form or use our online order options below, a notarized application is required.
 
Order Options
 
If ordering by mail, pay by check or money order-
Mail the notarized copy of the Marriage Application with payment to P.O. Box 350 Martinez, Ca. 94553
Make checks payable to the "County Recorder".
Ordering online by Credit Card only-
Complete the online order by clicking the "Order an Existing Marriage License Online" link below.
Fax the notarized copy of the Marriage Application
to 925-335-7888 or 925-335-7887 within 10 calendar days.
